Hello,
I am 28 yo mixed race (Spanish-Amerindian) female, 5' 6", 120 lb in apparent good health. As a child I used to have "growing pains" in both shins, otherwise unremarkable past medical history. I was never told if I had vitamin D deficiency and I grew up in the tropics. I like dancing and biking.
I have always been self-conscious of my leg's shape: they are longer in the upper part (thighs) by 2 inches and both lower legs seem to have a mild curving inward (bowed legs) but when I stand with my feet and ankles together, both thighs and knees touch each other leaving a space between both lower legs only. My calve's muscles are very small compared to the thighs despite exercising. Both feet look normal with high arches. Basically I have "crooked, chicken legs".
Is this considered Genu Varum even if the knees touch each other?
My mother's legs are similar and now she is 55 and has osteoarthritis of both knees (no history of previous injuries only mild overweight most of her life).
Should I worry about ending the same way? If yes, Is there anything I can do to prevent or delay it?
Thank you, Pilar
