What Causes Cramps And Brown Discharge After Menstruation?

i had an tubal after the birth of my daughter 12 yrs ago. followed by 2 cysts under the tubes and obnoxious periods several yrs later. doctors did a d&c end endometrial ablation(novasure). it is now 5 yrs or so later and i have bad cramps almost constantly, but especially after a menstral cycle, and a brown colored discharge almost 2 weeks following. sometimes with mucus tinted brown. what could be going on? i am now 40 yrs old.

Hello and welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Ideally after endometrial ablation, menses should have stopped. But if they haven't, then it is likely that endometrial hyperplasia has been reoccurring and you may need a repeat procedure.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Sameer Kumar
