My husband is 79 years old. He is completing cardiac testing. He has had a chemical stress test, ECG, Holter monitor, EKG, and blood work. We are waiting for results. Last year he was diagnosed with multiple pulmonary emboli and DVT in left leg. He was put on Xarelto and continues to take those. He is now also taking diuretics to reduce water retention because he has gained almost 20 lbs in 4 months. He has lost 4 lbs in 2 weeks. His lower legs are swollen and pink. He is tired almost all the time and frequently falls asleep when he sits down. He has a hissing in the ears. Yesterday he developed a cough ( dry, nonproductive). Today he is still coughing and has had a few dizzy spells when getting up from the chair. His follow up appointment with the cardiologist is in 3 weeks. Should we wait or is this something that is more urgent and needs to be looked at earlier?
