Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Cough And Cold Along With Tight Sensation In The Chest?
I am living in Phx, Az. And have had an unusual cough and running nose for going on 5 weeks. My chest is tight like asma, can not get alot of air into my lungs. Could this be more than allergies? I have never experienced this before. Someone suggested Valley fever, what do you think?
I highly recommend to see your physician, get a good physical examination and x-ray of the chest to evaluate the changes and take proper treatment. You might need prescription medicines like antibiotics or bronchodilators.
For the moment, I advise to: • Apply VapoRub on your chest • Take aerosol therapy • Take OTC antihistamines like Benadryl
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Albana Sejdini

What Causes Cough And Cold Along With Tight Sensation In The Chest?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice. Unusual cough, running nose going on 5 weeks now with tight chest are suggestive of possible bronchitis or pneumonia (lung infection) and not just a common cold. I highly recommend to see your physician, get a good physical examination and x-ray of the chest to evaluate the changes and take proper treatment. You might need prescription medicines like antibiotics or bronchodilators. For the moment, I advise to: • Apply VapoRub on your chest • Take aerosol therapy • Take OTC antihistamines like Benadryl Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
