What Causes Continuous Menstruation?

Hi, I am a hypothyroid patient and irregular periods. Since last 3months I noticed light, lighter period lasting for 10days or more. Last month January 14th I got my period and it is still on. What can it be? I would take Euthyrox for my thyroid treatment n was on tetralysal for my acne.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello dear
Understand your concern
I think it is due to thyroid problem-hypothyroidism.
Consult the gynecologist for diagnosis of hormone imbalance.

Also note that
Menstruation required co ordinate action of various hormone that secreted by ovary (estrogen and progesterone) and brain (FSH and LH).
If any above hormone is decreased or increased there is imbalance in menstruation

Following are the cause of countinous bleeding:
Hormonal imbalance, Dysfunction of ovary, Uterine fibroid, Adenomyosis, cancer of ovary, uterus, cervix, Thyroid problem, endometriosis, Stress, Pelvic inflammatory disease

Do the following test
1. Blood test: FSH, LH, Estrogen, progesterone, HCG, Thyroid hormone, ESR, CBC, Blood clotting abnormality
2. Pelvic examination
3. PAP smear
4. USG
5. Endometrial biopsy
Advice:
Take iron tablet
Oral contraceptive pill
Ibuprufen
Bed rest and warm shower

Hope this may help you
Best regards
Dr. Sagar
