General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted the history and understood your concerns.
Changing pain on the left side and particularly in groin of a male of 52 years wherein the pain goes to the rectum or anal canal can be due to the following reasons:
Colitis involving the descending colon to rectum also called as proctocolitis.
cancer of colon.
This can be diagnosed by the following ways:
Get the stool, blood and urine tests.
Colonoscopy and biopsy.
CT scan of teh abdomen should be done.
Clinical evaluation by a General Surgeon or a Gastroenterologist.
ALl these will lead to the proper diagnosis and if colitis is present get a medical treatment as per the cause found.
If cancer or diverticulitis then you may need a surgery.
