Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been having constant headache for a month afterward a round of the flu. I went to doctors and he prescribed prednisone 10mg 4x a day for 3 days. Then reduce 1 pill every 3 days.... Is prednisone a common med for my headache? I never had a migraine headache in the past?
Flu is often associated with inflammation of respiratory tract including lungs. Prednisone is a potent anti-inflammatory med that will help reduce this inflammation and ease respiratory symptoms.
Headache could be due to sinusitis that is often appearing after flu. An X-ray of the sinuses would confirm/rule it out. Prednisone alone won't help. Other pain killers would be recommended.
I advise to measure your blood pressure (bp), and record the results. Headache sometimes is a sign of high bp.
Hope this helps.
