What Causes Constant Fever In A Child?

My son has fever since yesterday afternoon. We had given him calpol yesterday at 1 pm (fever at 100) than at 8 pm (fever at 100.6) and again at 2 pm (fever 100.8) since fever was constant above 100 and momentarily fever was coming down because of of medicine.... I am worried now as fever is not coming down since temperature reading under armpit is showing less than 100 and his forehead, back and stomach is very hot. Is this possible? Also let me know if his fever increases again than can I give meftal p? When can I give him meftal p?

Hi welcome to HCM...

Your son having fever since yesterday...

For fever relief calpol that is paracetamol can be given..It is safe to use ...No need for giving mafenemic acid that you are asking for ...

Here cause for fever has to be searched for ....
Investigation needed like CRP , CBC ,Peripheral smear examination , MP card , USG if needed ....

Detail history taken regrading nature of fever like with chills , abdominal pain , pain while urination etc....
Lymph node palpation also done ...

According to that investigation guided and treated accordingly ..

Take care ...

Advise : consult pediatrician ...
