What Causes Coldness In The Hand That Is Actively Used While Fishing?
At times my right hand is cold while my left hand is warm. Once the right hand warms up, it usually stays for a long while, only to come back the next day. I like to fish and usually do it on a pontoon boat. I troll and my right hand holds a fishing pole . Resting my right hand at the wrist, that gets sore, and at times gets numb and cold. Suggestions?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi, Thanks for the query. I understand your concern. Your wrist position during fishing causes pressure on nerve at wrist.. to cause coldness, numbness of the hand. You should avoid undue pressure on the joint by using some soft pad under it while it rests to hold the fishing rod. Physiotherapy for wrist/ hot pack on the numb area/ Vitamin B12 supplement would help. Consultation of an orthopedic surgeon is worth taking. Thanks.
