What Causes Cold Sweating After Running?

Hi, I am 30 yr old female 133lbs. I'm a runner and I take 50 mcg of Levothyroxin a day for Hashimotos. Just recently when I run I will be sweating but extremely cold with goosebumps all over. It will feel as if my skin is crawling. I make sure that I drink 62oz of water a day so I don't get dehydrated. What do you think it could be. I love to run :) Thank you!

Hi,

Levothyroxin is a hormone that is used to substitute the function of the thyroid gland when it is under functioning (hypothyroidism). The dose is very individual and should be checked 6 weeks after starting treatment. If the dose is not enough, means that you are still in hypothyroidism (your metabolism is too slow and can not afford a ''heavy'' physical activity).

So check the thyroid hormones (TSH, FT4 and FT3) and adjust the dose of Levothyroxine according to the results.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Best wishes,
Dr. Mirjeta
