What Causes Chronic Vomiting In A Child?

My 13 year old son has been throwing up for 7 hours today. He can t keep anything down. He s been drinking water and a little sprite and maybe 1 salted cracker all day. He s throwing up mostly stomach bile (I think that s what it s called?) I m not to concerned because I just had the same symptoms for the past 3 days. I didn t throw up as much as he is but I did have horrible stomach pain like he is. My main question to you is there anything I can do help with the dry heaves? He s having such a hard time getting the sticky stuff out. Is it best to have him keep trying to drink water so he has something to actually throw up? Should I wait to have him try eating saltines. He s only had a low grade fever today but I would expect it to go up once he is able to fall asleep.

okay this is a typical case of food poisoning
and there is even stronger evidence since you had food poisoning 3 days back so he must have picked up from there

any way start on oral rehydration solution and give him tab ondensetron 4 mg 3 times a day for 2 days and after that sos
tab paracetamol 250 mg for fever sos basis
and give him yoghurt to eat

most important is to keep him hydrated
it should settle in a couple of days

feel free for asking any question on follow up

best regards
Dr Raza Ali
