Hello I have pain on the L side of Low back/buttock region that goes across to the L hip joint, pain/burning on the lateral side of my left lower leg that also goes under my foot and toes. if I turn to the left side the pain worsens. I thought it might be sciatica/piriformis ms but even after stretching the pain is still there. the pain is more consistent now.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Chronic radiating pain from the hip joint to the lower leg can be caused by several conditions, including herniated disk, spinal stenosis, degenerative disc disease, spinal arthritis, and piriformis syndrome. It is best to consult a doctor for a proper diagnosis and treatment plan, as the cause of the pain can only be determined through a medical evaluation. An X-ray, MRI, or nerve conduction study may be required to diagnose the underlying condition.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

General & Family Physician Dr. Satnarain Bansal's  Response
Hi,

Your pain is more looking like a pain of sciatica. This one is often the most common cause of hip pain being funneled down to the leg. Sciatica refers to the pain through sciatic nerve, which runs thru the back of hip joint to the front, sides or back of leg. This type of pain may be caused by irritation of certain lumbar or / and sacral nerve roots. You are advised to see your doctor for specific evaluation of the cause & treatment accordingly.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Satnarain Bansal, General & Family Physician
