Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Chronic Discomfort In Lower Back With Pain Upon Bending?
My spine hurts. From the middle it feels like a hole which feels bruised. Then in my lower back it feels like a stabbing pain and bruised and has been this way for years. I also feel like there is a catch in my lower back when I bend over which I can t do very far for pain but when I straighten back up I can t all the way. What do you think this could be?
The commonest cause of lower back pain is a torn or pulled muscle or ligament. It is caused by muscle sprains or strains due to sudden movements or poor body mechanics while lifting heavy objects or poor posture. Medical conditions causing such symptoms are spinal stenosis, slip discs, sciatica, degenerative disc disease, ruptured or herniated disc, cancer of spinal cord, etc.
You are suggested to get clinically examined by an Orthopedics. Get blood tests, urinalysis and imaging tests done, you will be treated accordingly. In the meantime for relieve you can take Combiflam, one SOS when required. Do not do stressful exercises or stretching exercises that strain your spine. Gentle massage and warm compression may be helpful. Give rest but stay adequately active. Take food rich in calcium, minerals and proteins. If obese, reduce your weight.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
