What Causes Chest Pain On The Left Side?

I have been having a dull pain on the left side of my chest for nearly a year. It is just left of center under my left breast. I have recently had my mammogram so not related to that. I have a lot of GERD related issues and symptoms so it could possible be related? Also, I used to work out and did do some upper body weight lifting. I don t know if it s something I should have my dr. look at closer. I m having an EGD April 6th so if it is related to GERD I hope the scope will tell me. Any thoughts?

Hi and welcome to Healthcaremagic. Thank you for your query. I understand your concerns and I will try to help you as much as I can.

Your symptoms may mimick both gastric and heart issues so both should be ruled out.
This may indicate specific heart ischemic issues such as angina pectoris or heart arrithmias and this should be definitely evaluated by cardiologist and you need to do at least ECG, heart ultrasound and ergometry. Also, you should check your blood pressure and regulated body mass, avoid smoking.

Gastritis is another possible cause, as well as GERD or hiatal hernia so you should do gastroscopy to evaluate it more accurately. This is caused by irritation of stomach mucosa by certain food or medications, stress and smoking. You need to avoid fried food, carbonated drinks, coffee, alcohol and spicy food. You should eat more milk products, vegetables and boiled food.

I hope I have answered you query. If you have any further questions you can contact us in every time.
Kindly regards. Wish you a good health.
