What Causes Chapped Swollen Lips?

For two weeks now I suddenly felt my top row of teeth touching and resting on my bottom lip. This has not always been this way, I think it s causing skin to peel on parts of my lip. What could be causing this? Is it likely that my lip is swollen for some reason? Is this the result of grinding my teeth in my sleep? Recently begun taking medicine to treat foot fungus and medicine for 24hr heartburn relief, I don t know if this is something to do with either of those.

Hello,
You may be dehydrated and breathing by mouth at night. This can be traumatic to your tissue. Do your lips appear swollen? Do you have excess saliva or any leaking at night to cause irritation? An oral fungal infection is harsh on your oral tissue. Some of your discomfort may be a side effect. Nystain is the prescription used for oral fungal conditions. Do you have tongue soreness and a coating common to oral thrush? Vist your dentist to evaluate your oral tissue and the need to treat your grinding with a night guard.
Give your medication a chance to be effective. Keep well hydrated, rinse with warm salt water and take some Antiinflammitory medication to reduce swelling. Vitamin B12 may help healing.
Thank you for your inquiry.
