What Causes Bruising Around The Eyelid After Head Injury?

I fell and hit my forehead very hard. After a day or so I had bruises on my forehead which are subsiding - I used Arnica. Now 4 days later, I have really black eyelid and black corner of the eyelid near my eye. Do I need to go to the doctor. The bump is nearly down, and I don t feel bad, but the sudden black brusing around the eyelid has worried me.

Emergency Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hi, I have seen lots of patients with black eye in my ER. As you mentioned you had injured your head couple of days back following which you had bruises over the forehead and later you developed black eye. The dark colouration that has appeared at the eye lid is due to collection of blood. Which slowly sweeped from forehead and settled at the eyelid. It might take couple of weeks before it gets dissolve. If you could upload a picture of your blacked eye, it will helpful for me to advice you better.
Important point to consider is whether you are able to see through your eye.
If you have any doubts you can contact me.
