What Causes Brown Vaginal Discharge While On Duphaston?

Hi is it possible to have small brown discharge when taking 8th day of duphaston? Today is my last day to take medicine and I saw small drop brown discharge again? Is it a sign of pregnancy or normal side effects of duphaston? I m experiencing abdominal cramping and sore breast. Thanks

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As per my surgical experience, the issue of brown vaginal discharge indicates possible vaginal or cervical infection through some sort of bacteria or fungi rather than side effect of Duphaston. My guidelines at present:
- Continue current medication as per the guidance of your OBGYN
- Drink more and more liquids
- Cranberry sachet or tablet twice daily
- Consume more amount of citrus fruits with vitamin-C content to maintain urinary pH helping microbes expulsion
- Vaginal hygiene care
- Avoid sexual intercourse if active at present
- Get a cervical swab report in lab for microbiology evaluation

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
