What Causes Brown Vaginal Bleeding After Taking A Morning After Pill?
I took the morning after pill on the 3Rd may and I had a baby 3 week ago Iv been bleeding after I had my child was brown now 3 days after I had the morning after pill I m bleeding red blood what could this be a sign of last year I had a ectopic pregnancy too so I m scared
This is not usually signed of any disorder and it may be the effect of the hormonal pill. However, this kind of discharge may also be seen due to causes like :
- Hormonal disturbances
- Ovulatory bleeding
- Early onset of menstrual flow
- Thyroid hormonal abnormalities
- Local causes like cervical erosion, polyps etc.
If the spotting subsides without recurrences, no need to worry. If the spotting persists, better to consult gynecologist once and get evaluated. By examination and ultrasound, the possible cause for the spotting can be identified and treated. If your doctor recommends going for investigations like thyroid profile, the hormonal profile including estrogen, progesterone, LH and FSH etc.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Ivan R. Rommstein,
General Surgeon
