What Causes Brown Spotting Between Periods?

hello i have a question that i am sure i will need to see a dr for but i wanted to ask some questions to possibly get an idea of what i might be dealing with? i am not due for my period for at least a week from now, but i have been having spotting (pink to brown varies) for about a week now. but now for about a day i have noticed a metallic smell. i have never had this issue before even during periods. help

Understand your concern.

Following are the causes of your problem :
Hormonal imbalance, Depression, Excessive weight gain and weight loss, PCOS, Endometriosis, Thyroid problem, Pelvic inflammatory disease, Diabetes, Excessive smoking, Precancerous condition of cervix and Atrophic vaginitis

Consult the gynecologist
Go the following test
1. Pelvic examination
2. USG
3. Hormone profile: LH,FSH, Estrogen, Progesterone, thyroid profile, prolactin
Take following advice:
1.Limit caffeine, salt and nicotine
2. Healthy lifestyle
3 Stretching and regular exercise routines will reduce cramping and menstrual pain.
4. Yoga can be extremely helpful to reduce both the physical and mental symptoms
5. Massage can also help both physical and emotional symptoms. also relieve depression, anxiety and panic attacks.
6. Hot baths help with cramping, back pain and relaxation.
7. Sleep of at least 8 hours
8. Maintain hygiene in pelvic area,wear loose pure cotton underwear.
