What Causes Brown Discharge In Periods?

Hi was prescribed misoprostol for a late postpartum hemorrhage. 4 pills once a day for two days. I m just wondering if the brown almost goo like discharge is typical? I also find it has a different smell? I still get some red smaller clots mixed in but no gushing again ( thank gosh) . I wasn t really told what to expect with these pills but really wanted to avoid another d&c. Also breastfeeding and this this prescription how safe is that ? Thanks for your time

OB & GYN Specialist 's  Response
Hi,

Misoprostol will bring out any collected blood inside. It rarely needs D&C. Moreover it will not affect breast feeding also. After finishing the prescribed dose consult your gynecologist. We can take a pelvic scan to see whether you need any curettage.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Archana Rajesh Babu, OB & GYN Specialist
