What Causes Body Shivering, Fluid Behind An Ear And Vertigo?

I feel twitching in my legs. Then it progresses to my upper body and jaw. I start to shiver like I am cold teeth chatter etc. Doctors think it may have something to do with my 8th cranial nerve. I have issues that have been confirmed with my left ear. On a month of antibiotics to clear up chronic sinusitis. Fluid behind ear. Also had vertigo when some of these occur. If I am up and moving not trying to relax I feel better. The sensation usually is over in about 15 minutes. I do not lose concousness. I feel I may be having panic attacks do to major stress. Is that a fair assessment ? Sandy

Hi Dear ,

Welcome to HCM,

Understanding your concern. As per your query you are suffering from body shivering, fluid behind an ear and vertigo . Well the symptoms you mention in query can occur due to may reasons like low blood sugar or iron level , due to certain medicines , benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV) , ear infection , meniere's disease . It could also be possible that the viral infection from upper respiratory track has spread to ear and causing such symptoms . I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist for proper examination . Doctor may order certain test like CT scan , blood test , throat swab test , viral culture test , MRI and examination with otoscope . Doctor may prescribe antiemetic drug , antiviral , anti inflammatory and recommend vestibular therapy . For now take proper rest , avoid bending forward , take paracetamol and drink green tea thrice a day as it is very effective in this case . Also keep your ear dry .

Hope your concern has been resolved.
