What Causes Body Rashes While Suffering From Fever?

Hello Doctors, A very quick question. My son has been suffering from a fever for 3 days. He has had no fever for over 24hours now. Unfortunately, we are seeing some rashes on his entire body. He has not taken a bath for 2 days though, that is why we are thinking this might be some allergy. Anything that I should worry about? Thanks!

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

It seems that your son is suffering from a Viral Exanthem. Since, he had fever two days back this seems like the most likely cause. You have not mentioned your son's age.

If he has not had measles in the past it can also be a case of that. In any case he only needs symptomatic treatment and isolation so that it does not spread.

If he gets fever again give him tablet Paracetamol to bring down the temperature. Give him light meals as and when he feels hungry and lots of fluids to keep him hydrated.

If there is any deterioration in his condition get him checked by a physician.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nazma Amman
