What Causes Bluish Discoloration On The Upper Back When Diagnosed With Shingles?
I am currently Dx with shingles, and have rash across right breast with only a couple of red itchy spots on posterior RT. chest. Since Dx of shingles, also have bouts of rather severe pain at sternum and upper spine. ECG, CBC, and chem panel WNL. I now have a bluish discoloration all across upper back. This discoloration is the puzzle for me. Any ideas?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
As per your case history you are having a purpuric rash with shingles, my treatment advice is -
1. Don't scratch the lesion as it may worsen the condition.
2. Apply a soothing lotion like calamine lotion on affected region twice daily. 3. Take a vitamin c supplement once daily for 3 months. If problem persists then consult a dermatologist.
