What Causes Bloody Nasal Discharge And Red Eyes In Case Of Sinus Infection?

I have a sinus infection. I m taking a antibiotics (Roxithromiycin) and a decongestion medicine (Gelo Myrtol). I have a couple questions. What is causing my red eyes? Is it okay to be blowing out yellow mucus with little bits of bloody mucus? I m just wondering if this is normal or not.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Sinus infection means the sinuses have got bacterial infection, this drains into the nose and the inflammation can spread to the nearby structures hence causing red eyes, bloody nasal discharge and any other symptoms.
Roxithromycin may not be sufficient hence you may need an additional Amoxy-clav in proper doses.

I would advise you to consult an ENT Surgeon to have clinical evaluation, ENT Endoscopy, CT scan of nose and sinuses and relevant tests of blood.
Proper antibiotic, nasal decongestant and anti-inflammatory will help you to get a cure.
IF the medical management does not help or if the CT scan shows any mass or so then you may need surgery too.

Take care.
Hope I have answered your question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, General Surgeon
