What Causes Bloody Diarrhea While On Augmentin And Pepto?

I have been taking Augmentin and been constipated for the last week or so. I have been passing small stools but the last few days I have had severe abdominal pain and diarrhea. Today I have had several small stools which were bright red. I did take some pepto earlier for the cramps, but in the past pepto has only given me black stool. Is the bloody diarrhea a result of the antibiotics and probiotic mix or the pepto, or something I need to schedule a appointment with my doctor for?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

The antibiotics can cause diarrhea but would not cause blood.

Bloody in the stool can be related to : hemorrhoids, inflammatory bowel disease, infection, diverticular disease, malignancy

It would be best to see your doctor for an assessment to determine the cause for you.

I hope this helps
