Hi,I am Dr. Santosh Kondekar (Pediatrician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My 4 month old grandson had blood in his stool this morning. I took him to his pediatric doctor and explained that his stool has had a hard consistency (turd) in his otherwise normal bowel movement . He strains when he is having a movement. In addition to this, my grandson fell out of his baby swing yesterday onto his stomach. The doctor examined him and said there appeared to be no injury to his abdominal area and the blood was probably due to constipation. The baby has shown no signs of pain but I am freaked out that he may have injured something internal. His doctor said he saw no signs of internal injury. He also said to put 1 teaspoon of Karo syrup in his formula twice daily for the constipation and observe if there is any more hard poo and/or bloody stool. I am still freaked out. What do you think?
Hi,Welcome to Health care magic forum. The causes for the blood in the stools, of you grand son may be the constipation and the fissure of the anal canal. The other cause may be the colitis due to some infection like amoebiasis, or bacterial . I advise you to consult a pediatrician for diagnosis and treatment. I usually prescribe to my patient with such symptoms ofloxacin, milk of magnesia, and a multivitamin. Wishing for a quick and complete recovery. Thank you.
