What Causes Blood Clot Discharge After Blood Transfusion?

I had a blood transfusion not too long ago due to being severely anemic. I became anemic being on my period for 3 months. I had a lot of blood clots coming out. My body stopped producing blood so I had the blood transfusion. I am currently on my 7th of my period and have been bleeding heavy with blood clots for two days now. Is this a cause for concern? Should I go back to the ER?

Hi,

Based on the history you have shared, yes, you should have a repeat blood counts and fresh hemoglobin and if low more transfusion may be needed. Injectable iron replacement may also be needed. Ultrasound pelvis and gynecologist review for local pathology causing the blood clots should be ruled out. Tranexamic Acid may also be prescribed.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
