What Causes Bleeding Of Nose After Having Dental X-rays Done?

My 6 year old daughter has had an exteme amount of x rays done to to medical conditions (hip displasyia, brain lesions, cranial cysts, heart mumur, broken leg). We just had dental x rays done and her nose began to bleed. Can her nose bleed be connected to radiation? I would like to know so I can limit her x rays in the future. Thanks

Hi,
Thanks for writing in.

Though dental X rays are unlikely to be causing the nose bleeding, it is important to limit the number of X rays and CT scans for your child. I would recommend MRI scans of other areas like brain and hip if possible. Dental examination is possible only by X rays and that is acceptable in the interest of the patient. CT scans are most harmful and need to be done only when required.
