What Causes Bleeding From Enlarged Papillae At The Center Of My Tongue?

I have an enlarged papillae on the center of my tongue that bleeds (a lot) when I eat & drink. It has been enlarged for approximately 6 months & experienced several periods of it bleeding. The current bleeding period is 13 days. Visited ENT & he didn t seem to be very concerned, just perplexed due to my age (42) & not a smoker. Should I be concerned with it bleeding ? I m not finding much information about enlarged papillae that bleeds many thanks!

Thanks for your query.
Read and understood your history and concerns.
If you think the point that is bleeding is a papilla, this is then very rare and the commonest causes are:
Granuloma formation due to infection or a foreign body or so.
Hemangioma formation.
Rarely if central can the ectopic thyroid.

I would advise you the following in such a situation:
MRI angiography of the tongue.
To get surgery done as per the cause found out on clinical examination and MRI report.
This is very important as the continual bleeding can cause anemia and resultant complications and the excision will also confirm the cancer or not.
