What Causes Black Vaginal Discharge After A Missed Miscarriage?
I had a missed miscarriage nearly 2 weeks ago and am still getting a lot of pain and bleeding is on and off. Today I have experienced some black discharge like stuff when I go to the toilet. I have had unprotected sex a few days ago. Could this be the end of my bleeding or that I could be pregnant again? My husband and I want to try again straight away for another baby.

Pathologist and Microbiologist, Dr. S. Samanta's Response
Hi! don't neglect this; urgently investigate its cause!
This is not a common complaint and I must have thought of certain circumstances where we see this kind of black vaginal discharge 2 weeks after a missed miscarriage like:
1. small clotted blood retained in the uterine cavity
Therefore some tests like pregnancy test, USG, PAP etc could be advised by your gynecologist other than a pervaginal examination to relieve your concerns!
regards,
