What Causes Black Stool In A Healthy Person?

My bowel movement (poop) looks tarry black the past 24 hours. But otherwise normal. I feel well. I did have an out of the blue, watery diarreah the night before noticing the blackness. I m male, 67 years old, in very good health. Any suspicions? Thank you. Please disregard. I did not realize there was a cost to receive an answer.

Hello,

Your symptoms seem to be related to bleeding in the gastrointestinal tract.

I suggest you do:
-A complete blood count.
-An endoscopy to confirm the cause, and to find out the source of the hemorrhage.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi
