Yesterday I was diagnosed with bilteral pleural effusions. I am asymptomatic at this point, it was picked up on an MRI I had done last week. Other then that it has not been investigated. Can I fly with this diagnosis? I am a 55 yr. old female.
Hello,Thanks for using Healthcaremagic. i had gone through the data you have posted.
bilateral pleural effusions common causes are 1) hypoalubunemia 2) congestive heart failure 3) autoimmune diseases like SLE 4) cirrhosis of liver 5) post operative mostly unilateral but can be bilateral
whether you can fly or not depends upon the extent of pleural effusion if it is very minimal you can fly but if it is more and if you are breathlessness with walking you need to consult your doctor.
knowing the etiology of effusion is important for further management.
Hope this helps..
