The centre membrane or soft bone structure in my nose is bent to one side.this is causing me breathing difficulties when I sleep at night.I discovered this only recently.the centre is very flexible, when I push it from the inside using my fingers,it pops back to the side.my local clinic doctor told me he has not seen this before.should I be concerned?

ENT Specialist 's  Response
Hello,

You have a deviated nasal septum in the anterior part of nose which is cartilaginous. That is why you are feeling it soft.

If you have difficulty in breathing at night during sleep, then you need to consult an ENT surgeon. He should examine your nose.

Endoscopy of nose should be done to see to what extent the deviated septum is blocking your nose. Start nasal spray Fluticasone 2 puffs twice daily for 14 days. Take tablet levocetirizine 1 tablet at bedtime for 3 week.

After seeing the endoscopy surgeon should plan whether you need Septoplasty or not. This is a surgery to correct the deviation of nose.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
