What Causes Back And Chest Pain While Taking Deep Breaths?

hi, on Friday I started pain in my upper right back.At night I started having pain in middle of my chest. I woke up and had to drink water and was able to sleep. some time later I woke up again and couldn t sleep in any way without taking water.I still have both things going on.It still hurts in the back when I try to take deep breath.What am I having?

Hello dear, thanks for your question on HCM.
Since your back pain and chest pain is relieved by drinking water, I think you are having acute gastritis due to hyper acidity.
But better to rule out pneumonia first as chest pain deep breathing is seen in pneumonia.
So get done chest x ray.
If chest x ray is normal then no need to worry much for pneumonia.
You are having acute gastritis.
So avoid stress and anxiety.
Avoid hot and spicy food.
Avoid large meals, instead take frequent small meals.
Start Proton pump inhibitors. Go for walk after meals. Keep 2 - 3 pillows under head in bed to prevent reflux.
Don't worry, you will be alright.
