What Causes An Infant To Avoid Food?

Hi, My daughter is 21 months old and weighs 11.8 kgs. She is a fussy eater and it s a struggle to make her eat. Recently she has given up eating, she does not eat her favourite food also, prefers only milk. Please can you suggest any multivitamin syrup so that her nutritional needs are met.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

To me, you should run a few blood tests to understand why she is giving up food:

- complete blood count (anemia)
- urine analysis (urinary infection)
- stool examination for ova/parasites
- good physical examination (rule our virus)

After evaluating all these data, we can decide whether multivitamins only will help or needs another medication. Discuss this further with her caring pediatrician.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Albana Sejdini, General & Family Physician
