What Causes Abnormal Menstrual Bleeding With Excessive Blood Clots?

I have been experiencing extremely heavy menstrual bleeding with numerous blood clots. The last few periods have become increasingly worse. I have also had a bigger appetite than normal right before my periods start and my moods have been out of control a day or so before i start menstruating. I have also had some digestive issues (nausea, vomitting, diarrhea and/or constipation), which may or may not be associated with the menstrual issues. I did visit my OBGYN this week and she ordered a transvaginal ultrasound and bloodwork. What are some common causes of the problems i have been having?

OBGYN 's  Response
Hi,

A heavy bleeding with excessive blood clots can happen due to uterine fibroids, bleeding disorder or a hormonal imbalance causing a dysfunctional uterine bleeding. This needs a few investigations for a proper diagnosis.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Rakhi Tayal,
OBGYN
