What Causes Abdominal Pain And Diarrhea After Undergoing Surgery For Fistula?
Hi I have been having abdominal pain since I had an operation on my fistula. The pain was in the lower abdomen but now I have it in my stomach. The doctor said he couldn t find the seton they put for the fistula 3 years ago and can t find the fistula any more. He recommended to do an MRI. However my health is not been great since the procedure, I have been having pain and sometimes diarrhea, overall I feel very week. I have done an endoscopy and the doctor said it was ok, I had h pylori a few years back but he said this came back negative this time, I m on Omeprazole.Altrasound for ovaries etc.. came back ok, but I wake up at night with pain and nausea.

You might be suffering from irritable bowel syndrome. In this condition, abdomen pain is associated with either constipation or diarrhea. As you had endoscopy and everything was good, you don't need to worry. It's irritable bowel syndrome. The following are few treatment options:
1) Anti-diarrhea medication like Loperamide or Lomotil can be taken once daily for 4-5 days
2) Avoid spicy and oily food
3) Avoid fiber during diarrhea phase as it may increase diarrhea
4) Tab. Cyclopsam can be taken to relieve pain abdomen
5) Avoid foods that are allergic to you
6) Drink more water
If your pain doesn't decrease by above treatment, please do consult a gastroenterologist for further evaluation.
