Hi,
Welcome to healthcare magic. I had gone through your question.
I can understand your concern.
Yes, this could be fluid in the ear secondary to
common cold. The Eustachian tube connects the inside ear with the back of nose. This tiny rube ventilatesa and drains the ear. Any
upper respiratory infection and or inflammation could affect its function leading to fluid in the ear and ear block.
Nothing to worry, you will be fine.
I recommend the following.
1) Oral decongestant like tablet levocetrizine with
phenylephrine.
2)
Oxymetazoline nasal drops to promote eustachian tube ventilation.
Do not use this drops continuously for more than 6 days.
3)
Valsalva maneuver: Blow air into mouth, while keeping the mouth and nose closed. You can hear a pop up sound in the ear, indicate eustachian tube opening. Then release nose and open the mouth.
Repeat this 6 to 7 times a day for 7 days.
Hope i have answered your question. If you have any questions, I am happy to help you.
Wish you a speedy recovery and good health.
Regards,
Dr. Paparaja S MBBS,MS
