What Causes A Red, Itchy And Painful Insect Bite On The Arm?

I got stung wed sept 14 by either a wasp or bee I was seen by doctor it was on upper arm underneath it s painful itchy and my hand started to ache that s what woke me up. I put Benadryl cream on it washed off with soapy water I take allergy pills it is warm to the touch even with an icepack on, I ve taken Tylenol doctor said stingers are out but I feel like they are still in. I had a large red mark that is on my arm and seems to be getting longer

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of red, itchy and painful insect bite on the arm which is due to allergic reaction. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to apply cold compresses with soaked towel and apply vitamin C serum at night. You should avoid touching or pricking area. Maintain complete hygiene. If condition doesn't get better then consult dermatologist for proper examination. Doctor will examine physically along with blood test and sample for lab test. Doctor may prescribe immunosuppressants, antibiotics like clindamycin, and anti-inflammatory medications as well.
