What Causes A Lump On The Upper Abdomen?

My daughter has a hard lump in the center of her upper abdomen at the bottom of the sternum that hurts when you push on it. She is 25 hand has had an upper respiratory infection for one month. She is afebrile but has been very tired. Other lymph nodes are slightly swollen. Your thoughts?

Hi,

Swollen lymph nodes while suffering from a respiratory infection is normal and will disappear progressively when the infection is taken care of. As for the hard lump on her upper abdomen, it may not be related to her respiratory infection.


I will suggest you get the lump examined by the doctor. A description of the nature of the lump, if any size changes with raised abdominal pressure and how long it has been there would have guided better to know possible cause.Possible causes may however include epigastric hernia, abscess still to collect, lipoma, and cyst. Just see the doctor for examination.
