What Causes A Bumpy Rash On The Arms?

I don t know if my question went thru. I developed a bumpy rash on my arms last Tuesday. Forearms had light spots. By Thursday full blown bumps and itchy. Started on my thighs. Went to the docs - said allergic. Reaction. Take antihistamines and use cortisone. Now, 4 days later, it has quadrupled. Hot and itchy and swollen. Now spread down to my ankles. Nothing on my torso. Couldn t sleep last night. Thought it would be way better by now! Cortisone isn t really working anymore. I m in a lot of discomfort. What else can I do?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

If the itchy bumps have not been improved, then, it's a case of possible skin infection. Need further skin examination by a dermatologist, and further skin scrapping tests.

Apply calamine lotion locally, and consult immediately with a dermatologist. Go to the ER in case of not reaching dermatologist in time.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Albana Sejdini, General & Family Physician
