What Causes A Bruise On The Back Of The Knee?

I have a 5 inch black and blue round mark on the back of might right knee with no pain. I have been busy with my 18 month old grandson visiting and don t remember hurting it. I did have veins showing in that area but can t make out if they are still there because of the darkness of the mark. I am a female, 61 years old.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The unnoticed trauma might be responsible for bruise development due to soft tissue injury in that part. However, still I suggest you investigate with SGPT, SGOT estimation, PT, aPTT, CBC and BT estimation for primary work up to exclude all possible cause for bruise.

You can apply ice wrapped cloth over that bruised area. Topical vitamin K cream also can be applied. If no improvement than consult nearby physician for detailed evaluation.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
