What Causes A Bitter Metallic Taste In The Mouth?

Hello, for the past year I ve been smelling rotten eggs on and off. These moments usually last for a couple of minutes, but I m never near anything rotten or bad. For a while I thought it was coming from me like from my body. It s a very intense smell and I ll ask others around me if they smell it and they don t know what I m talking about so I m convinced it s me. Also I periodically get really weird tastes in my mouth. I don t really know how to describe the taste. I m not sure if it s metallic. But it is bitter. This also happens to me on and off.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Some common medical conditions that can cause a metallic taste in the mouth include ear or upper respiratory infections such as sinusitis.

I recommend doing a complete blood count for further evaluation.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi,
