What Caused Chest Blockage And What Are The Chances Of Its Recurrence?

My baby is six months old. He just underwent an open heart surgery fo a VSD, DORV. Soon after a week of surgery, a chest X-ray determined some kind of secretion/blockage/air in one part of the chest. This problem is solved now through a tube which sucked/extracted that blockage.. What could be the actual cause of this and is there a chance of it reccuring back in the future? Thank You.

Hi... by what you say I feel that your kid has got a Pneumothorax which has got cleared after an ICD insertion. This means entrapment of air due to leakage from the lungs between the lung and the chest wall. This complication is very common in this age group after the surgery which your kid has undergone. I think he will be stable from here on, nothing to worry about it. I wish him a speedy recovery.
