What Can Cause Increased Sleeps And Low Appetite?

I have a 22 month old boy. The last two weeks he's been having 2.5 hour naps which I wake him from. He's up at 6am and goes to bed around 8pm waking once at night. His appetite is low but energy level is ok. He just seems to be sleeping a lot...growth spurt or should I get him checked out?

Thanks for the query.
Some of the reasons for excessive sleep are-
Insufficient quality or quantity of night time sleep.
Misalignments of the body's circadian pacemaker with the environment.
Another underlying sleep disorder, such as narcolepsy, sleep apnoea, idiopathic hypersomnia or restless legs syndrome.
Disorders such as clinical depression or atypical depression.
Tumors, head trauma, anemia, kidney failure, hypothyroidism or an injury to the central nervous system.
Drug abuse.
Genetic predisposition.

If he is active, gaining weight, passing urine stool normaly there is nothing to worry.

Hope i helped you.

HI
Thank for asking to HCM
I really appreciate your concern and from the history given here I could say that there is lot of fluctuation seen in babies as long as the sleep and appetite are concern and this makes the parents upset, but in fact this is nothing to worry because this is the part of their growth system, take care and have a nice day.
