I had an ear infection 4 weeks ago and have taken two rounds of antibiotics. The infection appears to be gone but my ear seems clogged. I have tried some ear drops but it remains clogged. It pops but the sensation of feeling like I am under water remains.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Clogged ear is a complication of ear infection and is generally related to Eustachian tube blockage. There are many ways that help in this situation. 1. Valsalva Maneuver- Take a deep breath and pinch your nostrils closed with your fingers, than close your mouth and blow air out of your nose. 2.You can use 3% hydrogen peroxide and dilute it with warm water, this can also be dripped into your ear. 3.Try placing warm compress over your ear, or take a hot shower. 4.Chewing gum also can help open the Eustachian tubes and relieve the pressure.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
