Yes you can use an oral contraceptive pill, including althea if you wish.
The medication is contraindicated (cannot be used) in these persons:
(1)in persons using another contraceptive at the same time
(2)history of venous thrombosis- clot in the leg
(3)history of heart disease- heart attack ,angina
(4)history of a stroke
(5)severe high cholesterol , uncontrolled severe diabetes or hypertension
(6)family history of clotting problem
