What Are The Treatments For Inflammation And Puss In Finger Nails Of A 2 Month Old Baby?

I cut my 2month old sons finger nails a few days ago I think I must have cut too short I noticed this morning, that it is inflamed red, with a little bit of green/ yellow puss at the end which hasn t broken through yet im just wondering what is best to do?

Hello. Thank you for your question. This happens very frequently. The best approach is to use warm soaks. This will thin out the skin in the area and eventually the pus drains. But this is not easy to do with a 2 month old except in the bath. So I recommend using an antibiotic ointment like bacitracin to prevent infection. Even with the warm soaks, antibiotic ointment will be helpful
