What Are The Symptoms Of Potential Seizure?

Last night my baby cousin which is 8 Months was sleeping, and all of a sudden he began screaming. Me and my sister ran in the room with his mother to to check what was wrong, it seemed that he was having a bad dream and we attempted to wake him up but he continued to scream constantly, i noticed that as he is screaming he is turning red and seemed to not be getting oxygen. His eyes were open and his eye color was turning purple, it took about 15 mins to get a different scream out of him and to calm him down. He definitely was not breathing. Where could this come from??? was it a form of a seizure?

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

From your description, this is not suggestive of seizure. In seizure, usually we will get abnormal shaking or posturing of limbs or neck, with unrolling of eyes, and babies will be very drowsy for a while after the attack. Screaming itself is a form of breathing- so he was breathing during episode, and otherwise he will turn blue instead of red. In short, no worry of seizure as of now. If this recurs, contact your doctor for a consultation!

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
