What Are The Symptoms Of Pneumonia?

I think I have the flu, realize I just need to weather the course, but wonder when or if I should be concerned that the deep cough I have might indicate pneumonia? What symptoms should I be watching for? I called my doctor s office, they said since it s been 3 days since the symptoms started there s nothing I can do but care for the symptoms at home. They said raspy cough, but I don t know what that means.

Hi

Greetings from HealthcareMagic!

Raspy cough means a rough cough with a sound. Sometimes a simple flu also may cause raspy cough. Pneumonia is condition in which your lungs gets inflamed, so you will experience fever, chest pain and shortness of breath along with cough. So you may not be a case of pneumonia. Better to go for an X- ray. Also avoid risk factors like smoking, alcohol. Use a cough syrup. No need to worry, it will be better soon.

Take Care!
